In June 2019 for the first time in our 85 year history Hull Savoyards will perform Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Grand Duke; or, The Statutory Duel. The characters in this production are:

Auditions will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 12th January 2019. Rehearsals commence on 10th January 2019, 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church and then each Thursday until the production in June 2019.

Always Remembered - A musical journey with a mixture of songs related to
conflicts leading up to and including the end of the Great War.
Hull Savoyards will present an entertainment on two fronts to commemorate the hundred years since the end of World War One. The Society, who are well known to audiences for the high standard of their singing and acting will deploy the full range of their skills to portray the comedy and tragedy of conflict up to the end of the ‘Great War’ 100 years ago.
'Always Remembered' - a musical journey starts with a history of conflict leading into a tribute to the heroic warriors of World War One and a celebration of the simple pleasures, noble values and the 'right to be daft' which they fought to save.
The first half draws on musicals to tell the history of the home fronts in England and France and the hopes and fears, as well as sense of humour of their citizens. The courage and nobility of songs such as 'Do You Hear the People Sing', 'I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls' and 'The Yeomen of England' are contrasted with the madcap comedy of 'Spamalot', 'Flash Bang Wallop What a Picture!' and the slightly risqué 'Brush up your Shakespeare'.
The second half focuses on the heroism and gallows humour of the trenches during the Great War. There will be bawdy irony from 'Oh What a Lovely War' as well as such haunting and beautiful melodies as 'Roses of Picardy' and 'Keep the Home Fires Burning'.
Director John Lamb says: "The evening will demonstrate the multi-skills of The Hull Savoyards. Usually, we are identified as performers of Gilbert and Sullivan but in this concert, the cast will show they can bring their talents in music and drama to any genre."

The Cottingham Civic Hall on Friday 30th November and Saturday 1st December 2018 - Tickets at the door or from Barkers. Hallgate, Cottingham.
The Hessle Town Hall, Friday 7th December 2018 – Tickets at the door or from The Hessle Town Hall.
Hornsea Floral Hall, Saturday 8th December 2018 – Tickets at the door or from The Hornsea Floral Café or Floral Hall Box Office.
Tickets are £7.50 / £7.00 concessions and all performances commence at 7.30pm.
