Hull Savoyards production of The Sorcerer is in June 2012 at the Middleton Hall, Hull and also at The Floral Hall Hornsea . It is hoped the production at Hornsea will help the campaign to save the Floral Hall which is a well needed and deserved venue for Hornsea.

The Sorcerer is a two-act comic opera in which a love potion causes the residents of a village, no matter their social rank, to fall in love with the first person they see.

The details of the  productions are as follws;

  • The Middleton Hall, Cottingham, Road Hull on 14th and 15 June at 7.30 pm and on 16th June with a matinee performance at 2.30 pm.

Tickets are £8.50 with £7.50 concessions. Family tickets are £20.00 for two adults and up to three children.

The society is now commencing rehearsals for Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Sorcerer. The story of this opera centres on John Wellington Wells, a dealer in magic and spells, whose love potions work havoc upon all who drink them, causing everyone to fall madly in love with the wrong partner. The results, in the opera, as can well be imagined, are truly Gilbertian.

The Society is constantly in search of new members and there are still opportunities to join the chorus for what will be an enjoyable experience in participating in a wonderful musical and colourful production. We meet on Thursday evenings and new members are assured of a very warm welcome. The ability to read music is not essential and all ages are welcome.
